What this list is
The organisations below are external and independent. This site operates none of them and has no relationship with any of them. They are national bodies and the standard references in the field. Verify anything time-sensitive on their own sites.
The centre's own directory of local and national contacts, with postal addresses, telephone numbers and named individuals, was last updated in 2009. A stale directory in this subject area does harm, so none of its contacts are listed here.
Crisis lines
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
- Call or text 988 from anywhere in the US. The national network that the organisation helped found and now answers within Kansas.
- Veterans Crisis Line
- For veterans, service members and their families. Reachable by dialling 988 and pressing 1, as well as by text and chat.
- Crisis Text Line
- Text-based crisis support, for people who would rather write than speak.
- HeadQuarters Kansas / Kansas Suicide Prevention HQ
- The current Kansas successor organisation. It answers 988 for the great majority of Kansas counties and runs statewide prevention programmes. This site is not affiliated with them.
